twool

Ashburton, Devon

Celebrating 15 years of sustainability, award-winning twool has been dedicated to creating sustainable, British-made products using natural and renewable UK resources. twool products are manufactured from the wool of rare breed Whiteface Dartmoor sheep, helping to preserve and promote one of Britain’s ancient sheep breeds. These sheep, native to Dartmoor, have been grazing its rugged landscapes since Saxon times. Sustainbility at the core of twool means wool is sourced directly from farmers who practice regenerative agriculture, treading lighter in the world and promoting soil health and a balanced eco system. Dyes are carefully chosen low-impact dyes, which require less water during the rinsing process due to their high absorption rates: this not only conserves water but also minimizes environmental impact. Unlike conventional dyes, low-impact dyes typically avoid heavy metals and toxic mordants, making them a safer choice for the planet. By collaborating with skilled British heritage manufacturers, twool have overcome every challenge involved in producing their sustainable wool products. This partnership brings together a unique network of expertise—from Dartmoor farmers to spinners and weavers in Yorkshire. Each person plays an essential role in creating twool's distinctive range of products. Committed to sustainability, social value, British wool, and British heritage manufacturing has resulted in a thoughtful range of products designed with care for the environment. Change is essential to safeguard the planet, and small, collective actions can create a profound impact. Grow the change you want to see in the world!
