Farretti Bakery
Langham Stables, Farretti Bakery, Petworth GU28 9BU
Tucked away in the South Downs, Farretti is a West Sussex producer of handmade, authentic, Italian slow fermented bread and Italian meals which can be collected from their kitchen at Langham Stables. Their authentic ciabatta is based on the original recipe of the late Dr Cavallari (the founding father of new wave Italian bread), who developed ciabatta bread in the 1980’s to compete with the popularity of the French baguette, which was damaging the Italian bakery market. Valeriana, founder of Farretti, researched the history of this baking style prior to developing her own bread, remaining in regular contact with Dr Cavallari until he passed away in 2016. Since starting the bakery in 2005 Farretti bread has won a strong consumer following who love its naturally developed flavour, soft chewy crust and light texture. Alongside her bread, Valeriana produces a stunning range classic range Italian dishes, frozen for collection which you can re-heat at home - so much better than your usual packaged meals. If you pop by and Valeriana is not open you can still purchase her meals from her freezer vending machine - a genius idea! You can contact Valeriana via her website (see below), email (val@faretti.com) or phone 07446 043 096
