Highclere kitchen garden
Highclere Hampshire
We run a sustainable smallholding, we have a silver surfers against sewage plastic free community award, we use minimal plastics even sourcing feed in paper bags, we reuse and recycle anything else into seedling holders or anything to mean we don’t throw it away! I grow and forage a range of fruit and veg which I then turn into unusual jams and other condiments. We sell out free to roam eggs from our herb fed gm free hens and I also bake with them to create gluten and dairy free goods - I am a coeliac. And we have a flock of beautiful Herdwick sheep and produce grass fed (and hedge) Herdwick hogget a meat prized by foodies and chefs. Our slow grown meat is full of flavour yet still tender enough to treat like lamb. The arty side of the kitchen garden is called the biscuit tin handmade and here we use our own and other uk smallholders wools to create needle felted pieces and also create limited run prints of our animals 😊
