Hello, I'm Maria Benjamin.
Maria Benjamin is a Scottish-born artist and entrepreneur. After earning an MA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College, London, she spent 12 years in the capital working as an artist, filmmaker, film editor, and creative producer. In 2010, Maria relocated to the Lake District, where she joined John Atkinson on his family farm in 2015. Together, they diversified the farm's operations, focusing on ethical and sustainable practices. Maria manages various farm-based businesses, including The Soap Dairy, which produces soap from their Jersey cow's milk, and Lake District Tweed, offering wool products from their rare and native British sheep. She co-founded The Wool Library, aiming to revitalise the British wool industry by connecting farmers, designers, and consumers. Maria is also a trustee of the Lakeland Arts.
