We believe everyone deserves sustainably grown food that is directly sourced from local suppliers, providing insight into the food you eat. Based in Sunderland, we have a shop and deliver food directly that has been carefully sourced and selected from our local areas, giving you the chance to eat fresh, eat healthy and eat local. We created Sunshine Co-operative to be a one stop shop for all things local and sustainable, helping local producers and growers thrive whilst providing high-quality goods with minimal food processing.

What do you produce?

We produce fruit and veg boxes - a variation of sizes and assortments. We also sell a range of local products such as bread, dairy, eggs, jams, chutneys, sauces, fermented foods etc.

Where do you source your ingredients / materials from?

The produce is sourced from local organic farms, local community gardens and our own backyard. If not certified organic, the produce is grown using permaculture methods and absolutely no chemicals are used.

Why do your customers love your products?

A wonderful business run by lovely people - always a great experience to visit the shop. They have a good range of interesting and ethical products and the veg box subscription is brilliant and so convenient, with other items you can add like bread. And they now have refill items so you can bring your own container and cut down on even more waste.

All the best producers gather at Sunniside Market (Sunniside Gardens​/​ West Sunniside) on the 4th Saturday of every month.
