I make handmade brooms and brushes in the European, Appalachian and Shaker styles using old world heritage methods (no machinery nor electricity) and a plant fibre called broomcorn (sorghum). I also use arenga and Tampico, which are also plant fibres but softer and better for delicate surfaces.
I make traditional brushes like vegetable brushes, pot scrubbers and cake testers, to hand brooms and whisks for smaller jobs in the kitchen, hearth and altar to full sized cobwebber, kitchen and barn brooms. Children’s brooms and wedding brooms are popular too! Each is a work of art but meant to be used. Utilitarian folk art!
